Hello, my lovelies! I've had an idea floating around in my head these past few days, and it's finally turned into something useful.

Comment with your hardest non-sexual kink! You know, the thing that will make you love a story more than anything. Even if everything else about it is terrible, you will love it forever because it did the one thing you cared about right. (Mine is linguistics. If they get the linguistics -- the culture and the sense behind them -- perfect everything else could go to hell and I would read it over and over again.)

And I'll do my best to track down some good genfic with that specific for you. Fandom-specific ones are probably out, since I may not be in that fandom, but I'll try!

What an awesome offer! Hmmm... it's hard to choose just one- there's a lot of things I love to see in fic. I suppose an particular favorite of mine is awesome worldbuilding.

I love fics that take canon and make it deeper and more interesting, but essentially remain believable, or at least not too disconnected from canon. Take Vathara's Avatar fic Embers, which has cultural misunderstandings and politics and long-ago history that still affects the present. Or Elizabeth Culmer's Naruto fic Lessons, which focuses on how Iruka came to be an Academy teacher. Iruka is, in the words of the author, "a decent, ordinary human being, exactly the sort of person I'd want as a friend or relative. And yet, he spends his life teaching children to kill. And he's very, very good at what he does."

Thank you very much for your time!

Awesome idea!
I'm a bit too sleepy right now to figure out what my own biggest gen kink is, but I have a language kink myself and can rec a couple of things that have hit it.

Humans by ArsenicSands
(Star Trek, possible slight foreshadowing of Kirk/Spock but 90% gen)
The depiction of an alien mindset/perception is awesome, and the bit of alien onomatopoeia it revolves around is absolutely perfect.

Vathara's Stargate stories (yes, I'm another Vathara fan!) all tend to make my language kink happy. I actually read them before watching the movie (and still haven't watched the series), and I have to say her fics (and other good Stargate fics) do linguistics much better than canon!!
Anyway, the most language-kink-y, for me, is Flat Tire with Bad Guys (Stargate/Rurouni Kenshin/Marvel universe, but I swear you can read it without knowing too much of any). Figuring out the history of contact between two societies by examining the characteristics of a vocabulary list/dictionary? Hell yes! (Has some het pairings, but they're not really the focus of the story)

Take Your Place by Coriel
(Lord of the Rings/The Silmarillion, het pairings + fade-to-black love scene, but not the focus of the story)
Thranduil arrives in Aman and gets several pleasant surprises. Canon never really does much with the Noldor/Sindar cultural divide; it makes it clear that it exists and that there's some history of animosity, but never really explores it. This fic explores the potential for a Noldor&Vanyar/Sindar or Aman/Middle-earth cultural divide in Aman after everyone has gone West. More politicking/worldbuilding kink with a side of language kink rather than straight language kink.

...Huh, why can't I think of any nonsexual kinks? The closest thing I can come up with is 'families by choice'. I like fics where the relationships of a canon group get explored; it all tends to get so warm and fuzzy.

I came across this final fantasy 7 story that I think, would hit your kink pretty well. :)
